We're still dry but not out of the woods yet!

The floods haven't hit Des Moines has hard as they did in 1993, but that's in large part due to the work done to improve our leevies and the Sailorville dam. We haven't really seen any flooding near our house in West Des Moines, but there are many closed streets that have water over them down by the river.

Downtown is at risk right now, but it looks as though we should make it through without too much trouble. With that said, there are some parts of downtown under water. Principal Park is flooded, so, no baseball for a while in Des Moines.

I took a few pictures of the bridges downtown while on my lunch yesterday. Normally there is about 15 feet of clearance between the water and the bottom of the archways of these bridges. And the water is moving FAST.

Thanks to everyone for having us in your thoughts and prayers. Keep it up, we're not out of the woods yet!
